The Annual 5K Walk for Suicide Awareness
Barb Bigalke, Executive Director, started the Walk for Suicide Awareness in Kaukauna in 2010. 500 people showed up in support at the first event. Every year, the event has grown, and in 2012, more than 1,400 people attended.
As a part of The Center for Suicide Awareness, the annual 5K Walk for Suicide Awareness will continually be held in Kaukauna. This walk was designed to allow those affected by suicide to openly talk about their loss without the stigmas associated with suicide. All proceeds from the 5K Walk for Suicide Awareness go directly back to the walk and helping the community with suicide prevention efforts, encouraging public awareness, and promoting the need to openly discuss the issue of suicide. All people associated with The Walk for Suicide Awareness generously donate their time and talent to make this event a success.
The Walk for Suicide Awareness will be held this year on September 14, 2013. Check-in time is 8:45am and the Walk starts at 10am. The Walk will be held at The Center for Suicide Awareness, 109 E. 8th Street, Kaukauna. Join us for fun kids activities, raffles, refreshments including Kringles, and live music from The Wright Combination.
